I tried a ham and beans method that you posted for Instant Pot and it turned out great! So easy! I’m always sure I’m going to make it explode or cook something yucky, but with your easy-peasy advice I’ll be an expert in no time!

I just purchased my IP and love what it can do so far – pot roast w potato and carrots, HB eggs, Yams and green beans. I’m looking forward to learning more though!

Do 6 quart recipes need to be adjusted to cook in 8 quart duo instant pot model? Anything else to adjust?
Debating on 6 or 8 quart. Don’t have room to have both. Leaning towards 8 so when we have company can cook more, but would like to cook less when only 3 of us. Do enjoy leftovers.
    Thank you

      Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for your question. 6qt recipes do not have to be adjusted to cook in the 8qt. The only real minimum amount to cook in the 8 qt is you always have to add at least 1 1/2 to 2 cups of a thin, non-dairy liquid, such as water or broth, to the 8qt. pot. (1 to 1 1/2 cups will do in the 6 qt.)

If you want to adjust 6 qt recipes to maximize your 8qt and cook all the way to the maximum capacity, adjust 6qt recipes by increasing by about 1/4th. For example, if the recipe calls for 4 cups of chicken broth, you would put in 5 cups. However, this is absolutely not necessary.

      Happy Cooking!

I know you must hear this all of the time but I thoroughly enjoyed your kids cooking together while learning skills that they will use their whole life. I am one of five and my Mom taught all of us to cook, sew and more…I didn’t find out how unique we were as a family until middle school; not only were we five kids but we all had red hair!! Keep up the good work!
